Telangana and Andhra Pradesh State Minorities Commission on Saturday issued notices to Hyderabad Police and the Censor Board against the poster of an upcoming Telugu film which hurts the sentiments of Muslim community. The commission issued show-cause notices to the Hyderabad Police Commissioner and Central Board of Film Certification.
According to Chairman Minority Commission Abid Rasool Khan, Khaja Tanveer Ahmed R/O of Asif Nagar has filed a complaint before the commission stating that the poster of the Telugu film ‘Nannaku Prematho’ starring Junior NTR and Rakul Preet Singh has the word ‘Allah’ and name of Prophet (pbuh) in the background of a film poster which shows the heroine in an obscene posture. The complainant claimed that the producer and director have deliberately tried to hurt the sentiments of Muslims. BVMS Prasad is the producer of the film while Devi Sri Prasad is the director.
Registering the complaint, Minority Commission issued show cause notices to Hyderabad Police and the Censor Board, seeking replies within seven days as to why a criminal case should not be filed against the concerned producer, director and the actors. Commission also recommended withdrawal of posters immediately.
Meanwhile hundreds of Muslim youth demonstrated against the film scene and poster in front of censor board office at AC Guard demanding removal of sacred names from the film scene and posters.
It is to be noted that the film is scheduled to hit the screens on January 13.
