Minority Colleges face difficulties-corruption worries Managements

Hydrerabad, July 27: Increasing trend by corruption at Govt-level is causing difficulty for minority colleges. Minority Engineering and Medical Colleges are facing a lot of difficulty in getting Minority Status.

It is said that many files pertaining to this issue are pending in the Department of Minorities Welfare. Govt of AP. Govt had instructed the Dept of Minorities Welfare to issue Minority Status Certificate temporarily for a year and if no complaint is received in a year permanent Minority Status could be given to a college but the situation changed in 2003.

More than 70 colleges in the state are facing a lot of difficulty in getting permanent Minority Status. Many representatives of Minority Colleges have complained that because of not putting “weight” on their applications, the files are kept pending. Last year, vexed up with this situation, nearly 10-12 colleges preferred to run their colleges without getting the Minority Status.

This year also, they are thinking of functioning without Minority Status.by not giving corruption. Minority students are put to loss. It is said that due to corruption, transactions worth Re one crore take place every year.

A gigantic personality known as the ‘Sir Syed of the Deccan’ is also facing the difficulty in getting the Minority Status. Minority Colleges can approach National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions for getting the Minority Status Certificate but those elements who promote corruption, have imposed a condition of obtaining Minority Status Certificate from the Department of Minorities Welfare only.

In such cases no written orders are issued but only verbal messages are communicated that the managements should get their Minority Status renewed. It is also said that the period of Minority Status Certificate is commensurate with the”weight” put on it.
