Minority certificate to educational institutions

Department of Minorities Welfare has recommended to the Govt. to issue Minority Certificates to educational institution permanently instead of issuing giving certificates temporarily every year. Dept. of Minorities Welfare received complaints that the officials are demanding money for issuing these certificates. Minister of Minorities Welfare has not taken any decision yet. Due to this the file has not been sent to Chief Minister so far.

When C.M. was informed about it, he was also convinced about issuing the certificate permanently but he is waiting for the recommendations of the Minister for Minorities Welfare.

It may be noted that in G.O.Ms. 1, dated: 16-01-2004 guidelines were issued for issuing certificates to educational institutions belonging to Minorities. Dept. of Minorities Welfare received complaints that certificates are not being issued in time and the managements of such institutions are approaching the courts. Madras High Court opined that once a Minority Certificate is issued, no authority has any right to cancel it.
