State Govt. has decided to celebrate the birthday of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad as the day of Minorities Welfare also. It was being celebrated as the National Education Day earlier. Mr. Ahmed Nadeem, IAS, Secretary, Dept. of Minorities Welfare issued G.O. 104 yesterday declaring the decision of Govt. of A.P. to celebrate it as the day of Minorities Welfare. Instructions have been issued to the district collector to arrange function on that day. It was also decided to present awards to noted personalities on that day by A.P. Urdu Academy. These awards include Maqdoom Award, Life time achievement award, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad National Award, Best Urdu Teacher Award, Best Urdu Student Award, Awards on selected Urdu books and also conducting a Mushiara. Director of Urdu academy has been requested to take immediate steps in this regard. All the district Minority officers have also been issued instructions for this.
