Minorities get meagre share of AP budget

Govt. of Andhra Pradesh has allocated a budget of just 379 crore for Minority Welfare Department for the financial year 2015-16 of which 370.40 cr has been earmarked for planned expenditure while 84129000 has been allocated for unplanned expenditure. Although government has increased the budget compared to current financial year however the hike is not heartening. No new scheme has been launched for educational and economic development of minorities while the budget allotment for existing schemes is unsatisfactory.

Rs. 60 crore has been allocated for pre-matric, post-matric and Merit-cum-means scholarships. Rs. 85 crore has been earmarked for fees reimbursement; Govt. of A.P. has allocated Rs. 23 crore, for construction of hostels and residential schools. Minorities Finance Corporation will get Rs. 9 crore for the welfare schemes of Minorities. Rs. 60 crore is allocated for subsidies. Minority Commission will get Rs. 67 lakh. For economic and social programme Rs. 10 Cr has been earmarked. Urdu Academy of A.P. gets Rs. 1 crore. Rs. 60 crore has been set aside for MSDP. A.P. Hajj committee gets Rs. 2 crore. Center for Education Development of Minorities in A.P. State gets Rs. 6 crore.
