Minister for Minority Welfare and Urdu Academy Mr. Mohammad Ahmedullah sending a letter to the Prime Minister, Chief Minister, Ministers and concerned departments appraised them about the difficulties and hardships faced by Minorities while benefiting from 4.5 percent sub-quota to minorities within the 27 percent quota allocated for OBCs in civil posts and services.
He said that the Muslim minority candidates of Andhra Pradesh are deprived of the benefits for the following two reasons. Firstly the 14 socially and educationally backward communities of Muslim minorities listed in the state list are not included in the central list of OBCs. Secondly the office memorandum and other orders regarding provision of 4.5 percent to minorities in civil posts and services are not sent to chief secretary and collectors by the government of India.
Due to these reasons minority candidates are not in a position to obtain required OBC certificate from the Revenue officer in order to benefit from the reservation.
Minority Welfare minister has urged the prime minister and chief minister to intervene into the matter immediately and ensure reservations to the minorities.
