Minorities Commissions’ national convention next month

In a first of kind initiative, the members and chairmen of Minorities Commissions of all States in the country would meet in a national convention to discuss issues concerning the community.

Speaking to media persons here on Saturday, Andhra Pradesh Minorities Commission chairman Abid Rasool Khan said that the national convention would be held in Bengaluru next month. About 500 delegates are likely to participate in the convention. He said he would be meeting Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah next week to discuss on convention’s agenda and other details. He said it is proposed to invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Ministers of all States for the convention. He said issues like steps to implement the orders of Minorities Commissions in their respective States, Anti-Communal Riots Bill and PM’s New 15-Point Programme would be discussed during the convention.

Retired judges and experts from various fields will also be invited for the convention.

Earlier, AP Minorities Commission chairman and members had a detailed discussion on the issue with their Karnataka counterparts including chairperson Bilkhees Banu. (INN)
