Muslims Think Tank and Elders’ Forum organized a review meeting to consider and analyse budget allocation made in the State budget for Minorities for the year 2012-13.
The meeting was presided over by Prof. Kancha Ilaiah (MANUU). Mr. Mohammed Aliuddin Quadri conducted the meeting.
Addressing as the Chief Guest Mr. Zahid Ali Khan, Editor, Siasat told that the amount allocated in the budget for Minorities not acceptable. He told that the share of the Muslims is not in proportion to their population in the State. He pointed out that after independence Muslims were victimized in education, employment and business.
The Muslims who were the owners of the fruit gardens are now forced to sell fruits. Many Muslims who were leading a luxurious life are now leading the lives of the destitutes. They have no shelter now. There is no precedent of the condition of the Muslims in the entire world. Govts. Neglected the Muslims all these days. He told that an organized protest is inevitable for getting the Minorities budget enhanced.
He pointed out that the income from Wakf properties is sufficient for the improvement of the conditions of the Muslims. He blamed Congress for allotting Wakf land to LANCO Hills. Mr. L. Rajagopal earned more than 10 thousand crore. Even if half of the amount is given to Wakf Board, Muslims can benefit from it. They don’t have to go to the Govt. with a begging bowl. Airport was constructed on Wakf land.
If Govt. makes Wakf Board a partner of GMR, fifty percent of the income of airport will be given to Wakf Board. This amount could be utilized for the educational upliftment of the Muslims.
Mr. Zaheeruddin Ali Khan, Managing Editor, Siasat, in his key note address hinted at the fifteen committees constituted by Muslims Think Tank and said that efforts would be made in the areas of Scholarships, Bank loans, Budget allocation, Public Relations, 15 point programme implementation, Public Awareness, Sensitising, Lobbying Monitoring of Financial Corporation, Education, Employment, Wakf monitoring, Urdu Academy monitoring.
He also announced the names of various members associated with these committees. Prof. Kancha Ilaiah, in his presidential remarks extended his support for the upliftment of Minorities. He stressed the need to launch an agitation for getting the budget allocation enhanced for the Minorities.
The other speakers were Prof. Rehana Sultana (MANUU), Mr. Hamid Mohammed Khan (MPJ), Mr. M. Ved Kumar, State General Secretary, INSAF.
