Hyderabad, January 06: R. Krishnaiah, President B.C. Welfare Association challenged the 4.5% reservation given to Minorities by the Central Govt. Justice Madan B. Lokur and Justice P.V. Sanjay Kumar accepted the petition for hearing and issued notices to State and Central Govts.
The petition is posted for hearing on 23 January 2012. The court said that all the appointments made and admissions given in educational institutions will be subject to court decision.
Mr. Krishnaiah’s pleader contended that there is no provision in the constitution for providing reservations on the basis of religion and wondered that without conducting any survey and without any recommendations from B.C. Commission, how have these reservations been provided. State and Central Govts. have been given time to file their counter affidavits before 23rd January 2012.
