Minor girl was forced to marry 6 times in 2 years

Its like taking the wind out of your sails incident, when a 17-year-old girl approached Rein Bazaar police claiming that she was forcibly married off six times in the past two years to various men by her money-hungry parents.
The girl from Hafeezbabanagar at the end of the day escaped and approached police with the help of an NGO on Wednesday when her parents fixed her marriage with a Sudanese national.

The girl is the daughter of Mohammed Akbar, a pawn shop owner from Hafeezbabanagar. In 2012, Akbar with the assistance of his third wife Niloufer, sister Mehrunnisa and broker Rehana had married off the victim to one Basheer from Nagpur for Rs 30,000. A few months after that, when Basheer abandoned her, Rehana married her off to London-based NRI Jamal at Pune for Rs 30,000.

Third and fourth marriages of the victim were performed with Saudi sheikhs in Mumbai for amounts ranging between Rs 50,000 and Rs 1 lakh in 2013.
The victim had spent three months with each of her exploiters. Then her fifth marriage was performed in Hyderabad with a Bahrain national for Rs 1 lakh a few months back.

The culprit fixed the victim’s sixth marriage with a 50-year-old Sudanese national, Mannan for Rs 1 lakh on January 14.

Seeing that they were trying to send her to a hotel near MJ Market, where Mannan was lodged, the victim escaped from the house on Tuesday. She spent the night at a relative’s house and approached the NGO on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, with the help of NGO representatives, the girl lodged a complaint with Rein Bazaar police. “Akbar has four wives and the victim is his first wife’s daughter.

The victim has alleged that Akbar had married off against her will the two daughters of his second wife recently in a similar manner.

We are verifying the complaint,” Rein Bazaar Inspector G Ramesh said.
