Hyderabad, February 24: A ragpicker was raped by a teenager on Tuesday morning when she went to collect waste paper at an isolated site.
The accused and his two friends who assisted him in the crime are absconding.
The 12-year girl from Madanapalle Tanda in Shamshabad assists her father in picking up waste from dump yards and other places. Around 9 a.m, she went to an upcoming venture near her Tanda when three youths forcibly took her to an abandoned room nearby.
“One of the teenagers had raped her with the help of the other two,” Shamshabad police said. The trio fled after the girl fainted. She was spotted by locals around 11 a.m and was taken to her house from where she was shifted to hospital. Doctors confirmed sexual assault on her.
Police said the girl could not identify the accused. A case of rape was registered against the accused while his two friends were charged with abetment of the crime.
