Thane: A six-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped and raped by an 18-year-old boy in Ghodbunder village in the district, police said today.
The accused — Sajid Ansari, who has been arrested, also tried to kill the minor by strangling her.
“Sajid, a garbage collector, yesterday lured the girl to a nearby place and raped her. He then tried to kill her by strangling her,” Assistant Police Inspector Govind Borade of Kashimira police station said.
The victim reached home and informed her parents about the incident, who filed a police complaint, he said.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the IPC and the Protection Of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, he said, adding the accused has been arrested.
Further probe is on, he said.
