An unmarried pregnant minor girl died after an abortion was performed by a nurse at Kothapeta here today.
Police said after the 16-year-old got pregnant, her parents consulted Vijaya Kumari, working as a nurse in a hospital. She performed the abortion in her residence seven days ago. Police said victim was cheated by one Sambasiva Rao who assured to marry her but later went back on his promise. The victim suffered heavy bleeding after the abortion and was admitted to the government general hospital.
When her condition deteriorated, she was shifted to a private hospital where she died today. The nurse and Sambasiva Rao were arrested and cases registered under Sections 417, 420, 376, and 314 against them.
