Hyderabad, January 24: Mild panic prevailed in the busy Mehdipatnam area on Monday after an explosion in a garbage yard left two Army jawans injured.
According to sources, the explosion left the two Army jawans with minor injuries. They were being treated at the Army Hospital where their condition is stated to be out of danger.
A garbage collection vehicle from Golconda Army area had come to Mehdipatam to take the garbage out, where the two jawans, identified as Raju Ramesh and Janardhan, were told to dump the wastage in the vehicle.
The explosion occurred when the jawans were loading the garbage from the dump into the collection truck.
The Humayun Nagar police was informed about the explosion and they rushed to the spot. According to sources, the army personnel told the police that since the dump yard is within the Army area and the case was out of their jurisdiction. The policemen were told to leave the area.
The sources said the explosion might have been caused when a compressor of a refrigerator which was present among the garbage might have caught fire.
