A minor Dalit girl was allegedly gang-raped by four persons including a former village headman at Chandora area in Betul.
The incident, which occcurred last week, came to light on Monday when a police complaint was filed.
On March 4, the four accused gang-raped the girl when she was alone at home.
When her mother, who was visiting her eldest daughter, returned after a few days, the girl told her about the incident, after which they approached the Multai police today.
Case under section 376 (rape) of IPC and under the SC/ST Act has been registered, and three persons, identified as Arjun Nai, Shankar Kumbi and Ashok Gond, have been arrested by the police. Vasudev Gond, the former Sarpanch, is absconding.
