A strange case of Abduction came to light where K Prasad, 16, a tribal boy was kidnapped and was forced to marry a woman of 21 years.
According to reports, K Prasad from Hankya thanda in Nalgonda district in Hyderabad was allegedly kidnapped from Devarakonda bus stand in 2011 and taken to Vijayawada and was held in captivity by a family based at Kothapet, Anjaneya Vagu centre for four years. He was allegedly subjected to hard labour, alleged one of his relatives earlier this week.
The incident came to light when the boy escaped from the clutches of his captors early soon after he was married to a 26-year-old woman against his will.
“The facts narrated by the victim seem to be true as we have found that the father of the tribal boy — K Chandru — had lodged a missing person’s complaint with the local Chandmpeta police in Nalgonda. But the case could not be tracked further as no FIR was registered then,” said B Rathnam, one of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) members of Nalgonda.
Anuradha Rao president of an NGO said, “In fact, the age of Prasad as a minor was also testified by Chandempeta government school records obtained by child rights NGO Balula Hakkula Sangam. His (Prasad’s) date of birth is mentioned as July 22, 1999 as per school records.”
K Jaipal Prasad’s cousin, working as constable in Hyderabad said, “Prasad was kidnapped by one Ramulu and taken to a contractor named Batthula Venkatesh. Here, he was forced to work without any wages and tortured, without any hope of freedom. Three months ago, he was forcibly married to an older woman and he somehow managed to escape from their clutches 15 days ago.”
The police have not yet registered an FIR however they are in the process of counselling both the parties.
