Minnesota signs smartphone kill-switch bill into law

Selling a smartphone without pre-installed antitheft software will be declared illegal in Minnesota on 1st July 2015.

According to The Verge, Governor of Minnesota Mark Dayton signed the first so-called ” kill switch” bill into law , which will allow users to remotely disable and wipe their phones after they’re stolen.

Dayton believes that this action will deter criminals from stealing phones.
