Jaipur, November 12: Rajasthan’s dismissed minister for water resources Mahipal Maderna has caused much embarrassment to the Congress party following the telecast of a footage by a Hindi news channel on Thursday. The channel showed footage of the minister with a woman Bhanwari Devi in a compromising position.
Bhanwari Devi, an auxiliary nurse employed by the state government, has been missing for more than two months now. She had secretly captured the images of the former minister and prominent leader of the Jat community with his pants down. Bhanwari Devi, who belongs to the nautch (dance) girl community exploited for centuries by the rich and the influential has been missing since September 1. Her husband Amarchand has lodged a report with the police accusing Maderna and others of sexual exploitation and suspected killing. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is looking into the case. It interrogated Maderna for seven hours on Thursday and the interrogation continued yesterday at Jodhpur.
The Hindi TV channel showed the 48-minute CD in which Maderna was shown in a compromising position with Bhanwari Devi. The missing nurse, notorious for her links with politicians and high officials, recorded the former minister using a spy camera to allegedly blackmail him. This CD is now in the possession of the CBI. It is believed the Hindi news channel had given the CD not only to the CBI, but also to the High Court at Jodhpur.
