Ministers Question Jagan’s Calculations

Hyderabad, January 03: Three ministers today felt that the statement of the former Kadapa MP, Mr Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, that the Congress party would drop to third place in 2014 elections, would create insecurity feeling among the poor people.

Speaking to mediapersons in the Secretariat, the Minister for Revenue, Mr N Raghuveera Reddy, along with the Minister for Civil Supplies, Mr D Sridhar Babu and the Minister for Information and Public Relations, Ms D K Aruna, said that the comments of Mr Jagan have pained the common people as they were leading secured life with total confidence that the Congress government was looking after their welfare. He asked Mr Jagan as to why the Congress party, which has support of the people, would confine to third place in 2014 elections.

Stating that electorate was giving mandate to the performing governments in the country, he pointed out that election results of Odissa, Gujarat, Bihar and Delhi proved this. Claiming that the Congress government was working down to earth, he exuded confidence that the Congress would romp home in 2014 elections, which are three-and-a-half years away.

“All the welfare schemes and developmental projects were the programmes launched by Y S Rajasekhara Reddy as representative of the Congress party. Therefore, we are all political heirs of late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy”, he added.

“Our family (in his language, it may be cabinet) has lost the family head YSR and the same family was continuing. Now the family head is Kiran Kumar Reddy and the Congress party”, he opined. He, however, agreed that the situation in the State was dicey.

The Minister said that the main aim of the State government was to see that the fruits of welfare schemes launched by YSR to install “Indiramma Rajyam” reached the common people. The Chief Minister, Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy, also made it clear at the Cabinet meeting that delivery system and transparency should be improved in the implementation of the welfare schemes launched by YSR.

Reminding that YSR has decided to take up “racchabanda” programme to cap the leakages in the implementation of welfare schemes, he said that it was decided to continue the programme. Modalities
would be finalized and the programme would be launched this month, he added.

With the inspiration of late YSR, the State government has hiked the input subsidy and waived the interest on crop loans to the farmers who suffered huge losses due to the recent natural calamities. He also appealed to the people to remain confident as all welfare schemes would be continued and developmental projects completed.
