Hyderabad, December 02: There was nothing much to cheer about for members of the Kiran Kumar Reddy cabinet on the occasion of completing one year in office.Reddy constituted his cabinet with 39 members on this day last year but the ministers feel that on looking back they find nothing that would make them feel happy and celebrate the occasion.
Kiran Reddy might be upbeat personally since he announced major schemes, managed to quell indiscipline in the party and weakened the Telangana movement. But for the ministers, they are not very sure on what count they should feel happy about their being in office for one full year.
The ministers are yet to find their feet since they were buffeted by one factor or the other all through the year. Telangana ministers were the most affected lot, they could neither function as ministers nor move freely in villages. The Telangana movement has cost the chief minister two ministers Jupalli Krishna Rao and Komatireddy Venkata Reddy.
The Telangana ministers still have to overcome the political challenges in their region while their counterparts in the Seemandhra region are suffering from YS Jagan Mohan Reddy phobia.
If this were so, CBI has become a nightmare to some. Home minister Sabita Indra Reddy has to reckon with the fears of CBI dragging her into the mining scam though it has not happened so far. Though the CBI cleared her, there is a possibility of the CBI keeping her under the scanner if IAS officer Srilakshmi, one of the accused in the case, turns an approver and spills the beans.
Minister P Shankar Rao has become a problem not only to himself but also to his cabinet colleagues. He keeps on making corruption charges agaisnt his colleagues and they are afraid what turn these charges will take after Shanakr Rao’s petition was taken up by the High Court as a petition and a CBI inquiry was ordered into the assets of Jagan Mohan Reddy. All the ministers who attended the Assembly session did not appear happy and enthusiastic. They did not even bother to wear party kanduvas either.
