The Telugu Desam Party has demanded that the State Government transfer the powers to decide the beneficiaries of Adarsh Rythu scheme from the District In-charge Ministers to District Colletors.
Addressing a press conference at NTR Trust Bhavan here on Tuesday, TDP MLA D Narendra alleged that the ministers were distributing the benefits of scheme to jobless workers of Congress party. Therefore, the powers should be delegated to the District Collectors to ensure that the real beneficiaries get the benefit, he said.
The TDP MLA alleged that the District Collectors were being used as mere rubber stamps by the ministers and despite identification of deserving beneficiaries; they were unable to extend the benefits of Adarsh Rythu scheme. He demanded that the State Government cancel the GO that empowers the ministers to decide on beneficiaries.
Narendra also alleged that some Congress leaders have been collecting money to handover the possession of houses sanctioned under various housing schemes to the poor. He announced that the TDP would raise the issue during the next assembly session. (INN)
