Ministerial group persuades TRS Prez to call off fast

Hyderabad, December 06: A group of Andhra Pradesh Minisers belongs to Telangana region met fasting Telangana Rashtra Samithi(TRS President K Chandrasekhara Rao at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) here and appealed to him to withdraw his fast assuring him that the state government had taken steps to impress on the Centre and Congress High Command on the gravity of the situation following the stir for statehood for Telangana.

Amidst heavy police deployment, state Home Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy along with her ministerial colleagues met with Mr Raio at Intensive Cardiac Care Unit (ICCU) and tried to convince him for more than an hour to call of the fast and start a dialogue with the state government in the back ground of Chief Minister K Rosaiah’s tacit statement last night that he was ready to talk on all aspects of the Telangana issue ”within the ambit of the state government”.

The ministers also assured TRS President that the Chief Minister had also categorically stated that Hyderabad city was ”part of the sixth zone and not a free zone”, an issue which triggered the indefinite fast by KCR on November 30.

Talking to media after their discussion with Mr Rao, Major Irrigation Minister P Lakshmaiah said they had appraised KCR of the steps had already initiated by the state government to convey the sentiments of Telangana to the Congress High Command and the AICC President Sonia Gandhi.
