Minister verbally attacks Cabinet colleagues

Hyderabad, January 30: Textiles minister P Shankar Rao, who fumed at the state police yesterday for their ‘inaction’ in taking note of the threatening calls he received, today created a sensation by attacking his Cabinet colleagues for not responding to the criticism being made against UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi.

“All the ministers who had worked in the previous YS Rajasekhara Reddy cabinet, should be sacked immediately. I will make a complaint to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Sonia Gandhi and Union home minister P Chidambaram,” he said.

Addressing media persons at the Congress legislature party office here, the minister said that it was unfortunate that even chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy also did not respond to the threat calls. Besides, the Cabinet colleagues who earlier worked during the YSR regime did not respond ‘effectively’ when the rebel party leaders were making criticism in public against Sonia Gandhi.

“There is a need to remove all of them from their posts immediately. Continuation of these ministers in the cabinet has resulted in the present situation”, he quipped.

Shankar Rao alleged that DGP K Aravinda Rao has also not acted on the complaint that he was receiving threatening calls from anonymous persons.

Only yesterday the DGP had written a letter to the police commissioner asking the latter to send the DCP concerned to the minister’s peshi to know about the issue relating to threatening calls.

On Tuesday, Rao had alleged that he was receiving threat calls after the High Court issued notices to 52 companies that had invested in the group companies owned by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
