Hyderabad, September 25: Infrastructure Minister Komatreddy Venkat Reddy on Saturday slammed the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy for imposing power cuts on farmers.
Talking to media persons, Venkat Reddy accused the Chief Minister of victimising the Telangana farmers for the support that they extended to the general strike. He said that the employees had served strike notices well in advance and the State Government should have made alternate arrangements for the power supply during the strike period. He demanded that the state government provide seven hour power supply to farmers in the State at any cost.
The Minister suggested that the Chief Minister purchase power from neighbouring states to tide over crisis of inadequate power situation in the state. He said the Chief Minister would be held responsible for damage of crops due to power supply. He also condemned the government’s move to terminate the services of contract employees of various departments for participating in the general strike.
Regarding the attack on TDP MLAs by the TRS activists on Friday, Venkat Reddy alleged that the TDP leaders were enacting drama with their symbolic protests for Telangana state. He said that people have lost faith in the TDP leaders and the same could be restored only if the TDP MLAs succeed in getting a letter of support from the TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu.
The Minister also warned the Congress High Command that the party would be wiped off from the entire region if it fails to take a favourable decision on Telangana. He said that the demand for Telangana State was not new and the present agitation was aimed at pressurising the Centre to fulfil the promise that it made on December 09, 2009. He said that he would announce his future course of plan in October.
