Minister Parthasarthy in new trouble:Fera Case

Minister Parthasarathy appears to be heading for fresh trouble as the revenue authorities had found that he had not mentioned about the FERA case pending against him in the affidavit he had filed during the 2009 election.

Revenue authorities had examined the affidavit on a direction by the Election Commission. They found that the minister had stated in the mandatory affidavit that no case was pending against him. Responding to the information received by the election commission, state’s Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal told the media here on Friday that they would examine the affidavit and if it lacked proper details, they would take action under section 125 A of the representation of people’s act. He said the verdict of the Election Commission in the matter was final.

It may be mentioned here that the court of economic offences had already found Parthasarathy to be guilty of violation of FERA regulations and slapped a fine on him. The court which has also sentenced him to two months of simple imprisonment which was later stayed by a higher court was however given one month time to appeal against the judgment. However, opposition parties including TDP have been demanding that the minister should quit the cabinet.
