Minister inspects new equipment in Niloufer Hospital

Health Minister Dr C Laxma Reddy today visited the Niloufer Hospital here and interacted with patients and doctors for over an hour. He inspected the recently-procured medical infrastructure at the new intensive block of the maternity hospital.

Dr Laxma Reddy urged the health care workers, especially those in the maternity hospitals to brace for a possible rise in inflow pregnant women to Government hospitals, once the ‘Amma Odi’ and ‘KCR Kits’ initiatives are launched by the month-end. “We are expecting at least 20 per cent rise in admissions of pregnant women in Government hospitals in the State. I urge health care workers to be ready to handle the jump in patient-inflow to health institutions,” Dr Laxma Reddy said.

The direct cash benefit scheme for mothers and infants, to be launched by this month-end, will go a long way in reducing maternal and infant mortality rates in the State, Dr. Laxma Reddy said. Nampally MLA from MIM party Jaffer Hussain Meraj, Director of Medical Education, Dr M. Ramani, Niloufer Hospital Superintendent Dr K. Ramesh Reddy and other top health officials were present. (NSS
