Minister for Agriculture Pocharam Srinivas Reddy today exhorted the people to consume millets to keep themselves healthy. He was inaugurating a three-day Millet Expo 2015 at Peoples’ Plaza near Necklace Road here. Prof Jayashankar Agriculture University and Home Science College are jointly conducting the exhibition.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister stated that consumption of millets will help improve health and keep at bay the diseases. As many as 60 stalls related to a wide range of Millets and priority to educate people to consume the same for health were put up at the expo. After making a round of the stalls, the minister stated that the State Government will promote the cultivation of millets in a big way. Stressing the need for more cultivation of millets in the state, Pocharam asked the farmers to prefer millets cultivation as there is more demand for the same in city. Millets cultivation will reap in benefits for the farming community, he exuded confidence. The government will extend all support and cooperation for millet cultivation purpose, the minister maintained. (NSS)
