Hyderabad, December 23: Andhra Pradesh Textiles Minister P Shankar Rao, who is often in news for his critical remarks against his own colleagues, held an official meeting today in his office by sitting on the floor, as he said that furniture was not available. Though he sought furniture for his office from the concerned officials, it was not provided, Rao claimed.
He, along with officials and other staff members, sat on the floor with various equipment like computers and held the meeting. He said he would not mind sitting on the floor as his priority is getting the work done in the interest of people. Shankar Rao and his convoy were attacked with eggs and tomatoes by some protesters here a few days ago.
The local residents of NTR Nagar, allegedly supporters of Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy, demanded Shanker Rao to ‘go back’ and even reportedly threatened him. Police immediately intervened and dispersed the mob. The locals were apparently angry over the minister visiting the residence of Jehangir, whom they claimed was a land grabber. Talking to reporters later, Rao alleged those close to the state Home Minister were behind the attack. Rao had earlier made critical remarks against some of his Cabinet colleagues.
