Minister flays police officials

Hyderabad, January 28: The Handloom and Textiles Minister Dr P Shankar Rao alleged that the police department was not taking care of him even though he was getting threatening calls, and questioned as to how it do justice to the common man.

Speaking to the media at CLP office here on Thursday, Dr Shankar Rao said that the police department was functioning as it wished. He alleged that many police department personnel were facing various allegations and they should not forget the fact. He asked the department whether he has to file a complaint in the police station being a minister. He said that he was not a common man to lodge a complaint going to the police station and added that he was only trying to focus the situation in the state, but not doing so fearing threatening calls.

He said that he will bring the issue to the notice of the Prime Minister Mr Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Ms Sonia Gandhi and Union Home minister.

On MLAs supporting former MP Mr YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Minister said that they have to resign their posts if they have any ethical values. He also said that it was up to them to decide whether to continue in the party or not.

He made it clear that the Congress came to power not because of late Dr YSR but because of PCC president Mr D Srinivas. He said that the Congress came to the power only because of Telangana leaders and added that earlier too the Congress came to the power because of late Dr Marri Chenna Reddy.
