Mahabubnagar, January 31: Information Minister Ms. D K Aruna has escaped what looked like an attempt on her life.
An unidentified caller has told her over telephone on Saturday that there was a plan to kill her at Ija in the district. The minister reported the matter to the police. The police who sprung into action, found some explosives near Ijja. Police are trying to find the caller. They have found that the call came from a coin box in Peddakottapalli village in Kollapur constituency around 4 p m on Saturday.
SP of the district Mr Narendra babu said the detonators found by the police were not dangerous. Police suspect that the minister was targeted as she was actively participating in the ‘Racha Banda’ programme despite the Telangana agitation against it.
The unidentified caller is believed to have warned the minister not to participate in the ‘Racha Banda’ programme. As the detonators were found in the route the minister was to take, police suspect that it could an attempt to intimidate the minister and make her abstain from the ‘Racha Banda’ programme.
