Hyderabad, September 25: The Majls-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen has made it clear that it will not support the on-going Sakala Janula Samme, the general strike, for Telangana.
Addressing a press conference at MIM’s headquarters Darulsalaam here on Sunday, MIM president and Hyderbad MP Asaduddin Owaisi said that the on-going agitation has been causing lot of inconvenience to the common man.
“Nearly 25-30 lakh poor are literally starving due to the general strike and therefore, there is no question of support the present agitation,” he said.
Owaisi said that his party has made its stand clear on Telangana before the Srikrishna Committee and it stands by it. He alleged that the present agitation was politically motivated and the parties involved were just trying to en-cash upon the sentiments of youth.
“The leaders themselves are fixing the deadlines and provoking the youth,” he said. He insisted that the pro-Telangana groups should not fix unrealistic deadlines.
“While the people in the Seemandhra region are living a normal life, the Telangana people are forced to face lot of hardship due to power cuts, lack of transportation an other difficulties due to the agitation,” he said. However, the MIM president asked the Centre to announce its decision on Telangana issue at the earliest to bring normalcy in the region.
Owaisi said that the Telangana agitation should not obstruct the peaceful conduct of Haj camp beginning from September 27. He warned of dire consequences if the Haj pilgrims face any difficulty during the Haj camp due to agitation.
