Hyderabad: The Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) suspended six of its members from Tandur for anti-party activities during the election of chairperson for the Tandur Municipal Council. They allegedly voted for the Congress candidate for the chairperson’s post which was reserved for a woman.
According to a party leader from Tandur, the party could have won the post of chairperson, if there was no cross-voting. It was after their visit to Darussalaam earlier this week that the party leadership decided to suspended the six corporators.
According to sources, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and MIM had entered into an agreement that the chairperson’s term would be shared. But it appears that something went against when both MIM and the TRS boycotted the election.
