BJP would oppose Rayala Telangana in the assembly as well as in parliament, said state party president G Kishan Reddy here today.
Expressing solidarity with “Telangana bandh” call tomorrow, Reddy told media that if the Congress-led UPA government moved bill on Rayala Telangana, the party would oppose it in both assembly and parliament.
Accusing the Congress party of trying to deceive the people of Telangana, BJP state chief alleged it was acting on behest of Majlis-e-Ittehadul-Muslimeen (MIM) party which was confined to only old city and it has only one MP. The proposal of Rayala Telangana was mooted by MIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi in a bid to strengthen his party, he said.
If any move was made in this direction ( Rayala Telangana) on the direction of MIM, BJP will not tolerate such games being played by the Congress for votes and seats, Reddy warned. He alleged that the Congress was trying to divide Rayalaseema region for its political gain. He questioned the Congress party whether it has taken the decision for formation of Telangana to fulfill long cherished aspiration of the people or keeping an eye on seat sharing and electoral alliance on coming elections with any party.
No party in the state demanded Rayala Telangana and even people of Rayalaseema also opposing the division of the region, he said.
Reddy said TJAC chairman Prof Kodandaram met party’s national president Rajnath Singh at Delhi and sought cooperation to make success tomorrow’s bandh called in protest against Rayala Telangana proposal.(NSS)
