Congress and BJP had always held sway over Malakpet assembly constituency but MIM candidate Ahmed bin Abdullah Balala won the assembly seat in 2009 with 30839 votes. It was being hoped that Mohammed Muzaffar Ali Khan who strengthened the TDP would win the election.
Now the election campaign is in full swing. Keeping in view the interest of the community MBT has not fielded its candidate from Malakpet. And the influential TDP candidate Mohammed Muzaffar Ali Khan is also not contending; so the road to victory is clear for MIM. It must be noted that there were 193598 voters in Malakpet assembly constituency last year but the voter turnout was 52 pc, of which Ahmed Balala got 30839 (30.44 pc) votes and Mohammed Muzaffar Ali got 22468 (22.18 pc).
A youth from Chanchalguda told that MBT, by not fielding its candidate from Malakpet constituency, has adopted a good strategy for the victory of a Muslim candidate; for which MIM should appreciate the community spirit of MBT.
Another businessman felt that despite of TRS, BJP and Congress candidates in fray, chances of MIM candidate winning the election in Malakpet are bright, thanks to the prudent decision of Muslim parties especially MBT.
