The All India Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen for the first time in its history has won 101 wards and divisions in Telangana and Seemandhra areas. The MIM party had won 42 seats in the previous municipal polls in Telangana region exclusive of 44 seats in Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.
It has appeared as the third largest party in Telangana after the Congress and the TRS.
The party contested in 28 municipalities, including municipal corporations in Telangana and 19 municipalities in Seemandhra and won 96 wards, including 18 divisions in Karimnagar and Nizamabad corporations in Telangana.
After a gap of 10 years, the MIM has bagged the Bhainsa municipality by winning 12 wards. The MIM has made its entry in Seemandhra by winning five wards in Adoni municipality in Kurnool district.
As stated by the party sources, the MIM which won 16 seats in Nizamabad Municipal Corporation is likely to ally either with the Congress or the TRS to form the council on condition of sharing the mayor’s post.
Likewise in Nirmal town, the MIM is likely to tie up with the BSP to elect the chairman as the MIM has won 10 wards and the BSP has bagged 16 wards in the town. The MIM is expected to enter post poll coalition with the TRS in Adilabad town, and Tandur municipalities where the MIM and the TRS have won 10 wards each, revealed sources.
