The TRS, with 99 seats out of 150, swept the GHMC polls and is set to bag the mayor’s seat on its own. Thus the controversy over mayor & deputy mayor posts has ended. Now the ruling party will pick its own candidate as mayor and deputy mayor. In the past, MIM had played the role of kingmaker in the nomination of mayor and deputy mayor. This time the party is no longer the kingmaker. So far MIM had significant influence in the corporation, now in spite of being a strong opposition; it has lost the role of kingmaker.
