Hyderabad: It seems that the MIM is not interested in implementing 12 pc quota for Muslims in education and employment. This is evident by the statement made by MIM floor leader in the Legislative Assembly Akbaruddin Owaisi on Wednesday, who asked the Telangana government not to increase the Muslim quota to 12 per cent in a hurry. He has provided an excuse to the government that it may result in the Muslims losing even the existing four per cent quota due to legal issues.
He has requested the CM to take all precautions while drafting the Muslim Reservations Bill to ensure that the existing four per cent quota is not lost.
Even as the TRS Government is already deviating from its crucial poll promise, this excuse provided by MIM will further help the ruling TRS to delay the matter. The statement made by Akbar Owaisi indicates that MIM also wants to prolong the issue for few more years.
According to political analysts MIM leaders don’t want Muslims to become educated and matured, so that Muslims remain gullible to be swayed away by them.
KCR had promised to give 12 per cent Muslim reservation within four months after coming to power. He has already wasted over two years. He apparently wants to drag the issue till next elections and MIM seems to be helping him in his plan.
Muslim groups are already crying foul over the inordinate delay in 12 per cent reservations to the socially backward Muslims even as the recruitment by various agencies in the State is going on at a brisk pace. Most of the opportunities in education and employment would be lost if implementation of 12 per cent reservation is delayed further.
TSPSC and Police Recruitment Board have already released job notifications for recruitment to various posts recently, besides State government has announced to appoint nearly 20,000 teachers through DSC. Muslims would be deprived of the opportunity to get employment if reservations were not announced at the earliest. If 12 per cent reservations were not implemented while the recruitments were going on what would be the use of them after recruitments to all the important posts were over.
