MIM MLA reprimanded by court

MIM MLA Mumtaz Ahmed Khan and seven other party activists were convicted by the VII Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, at Nampally Criminal Court on Tuesday, however they were released by the judge after due admonition.

A case was registered against Yakutpura MLA Mumtaz Khan and seven Majlis activists in 2007 on the charges of assaulting a police party which was on duty at a public meeting organized by CPM. They were being charged of disrupting the meeting addressed by the then CPM Rajya Sabha MP P Madhu. Madhu had allegedly made some remarks against Jamia Nizamia the oldest Islamic seminary. Mumtaz Ahmed Khan along with Syed Ghulam Samdani, Mohammed Aleem, Mohammed Misbahuddin, Mehdi Mohammad and others allegedly assaulted the police party when the later foiled their attempt to disrupt the speech of former MP. The complaint was lodged by the then inspector Kanchanbagh police station Ram Das Teja against the MLA and his followers.
