Hyderabad, December 16: ‘Today’s discussion is about farmers’ issues and where are farmers in Hyderabad?’ quipped deputy speaker N Manohar on which every one broke into laughter.
While the discussion on problems of farmers due to recent flood and rain havoc was on in the assembly on Wednesday an MLA of a local party took part in the discussion and from the beginning of the speech itself deviated from the topic and started mentioning the battered roads, overflowing drainage system and nalas in Hyderabad due to heavy rains in the recent past.
Deputy speaker permitted him to speak for a while then said ‘today we are discussing over farmers’ issues, where are farmers in Hyderabad?
The MLA was nonplussed on the question then he said ‘deputy speaker sahib farmers are in Hyderabad too, I am also a farmer.’
His comment brought laughter in the house. A Congress MLA told deputy speaker ‘let him speak because he is also a farmer’.
The MLA talked about damaged roads, demanded for 100 crore for Greater Hyderabad, SC ST community facing hardship due to rains, hike in petrol and diesel prices, onion, garlic, ginger and pulses price hike and other such problem.
The house was greatly amused by his style and remarks during the whole speech.
