MIM may join TRS Government in Telangana

The Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen on Monday gave clear indications that it may join the first government of Telangana State to be formed by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi.

A delegation of TRS leaders comprising Etela Rajender, K Tarakarama Rao, Nayani Narasimha Reddy and T Padma Rao on Monday called on MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi at the residence of Akbaruddin Owaisi at Banjara Hills to discuss the issue. All seven MLAs and two MLCs of MIM were also present on the occasion. The MIM and TRS leaders held discussions for nearly two hours.

Speaking to media persons later, Asaduddin Owaisi announced that the MIM has decided to support the TRS Government in Telangana. However, he said that the welfare and protection of minorities was more important than the MIM joining the State cabinet. He assured that the TRS and MIM would bring exemplary growth for Telangana. He said Hyderabad would be turned into the favourite investment destination. He said the new government needs to address the key problems of drinking water, energy and irrigation in the State. He hoped that Telangana would emerge as the best State in the country.

Asaduddin Owaisi said that the MIM would continue to oppose the RSS ideology and since BJP has fought the elections on the same ideology, it would opposed the BJP tooth and nail. He said TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao has assured that he would not ally with the BJP and the MIM trusts his words. He said both the parties would jointly work for the development of Telangana.

TRS leader Nayani Narasimha Reddy too indicated that the MIM might join his party’s government. He said Asaduddin Owaisi and KCR would meet soon to formalise the alliance. He also informed that CPM leaders have met KCR and the CPI leaders too were planning to meet the TRS president. He said that the TRS wants to take all parties along to ensure speedy development of Telangana State. (INN)
