Hyderabad, September 22: MIM corporator Mumtaz Ali’s second wife, Anwar Fatima, was found murdered, allegedly by his first wife Hajera Begum, at his residence in Hafiz Baba Nagar, under Kanchanbagh police station limits, on Wednesday. Hajera Begum’s brother Salim Bin Bazahar and his wife are also suspected of helping her. Fatima’s throat was slit by a vegetable knife. According to police, Fatima, who lived in Shaheen Nagar, went to Mumtaz’s house in Hafiz Baba Nagar at 8:30 am as she required Rs 5,000.
As she went up to the third floor of the three-storeyed building, where Mr Mumtaz Ali lived with his first wife, her son from her first husband, Munawar Abdul Azeez, waited outside. As Fatima didn’t return even after half-an-hour and didn’t respond to his phone calls, Munawar got suspicious and went up along with the corporator. They found her lifeless body lying in a pool of blood. On receiving information, Kanchanbagh police on rushed to the spot and seized a knife. The police took Hajera Begum into custody on suspicion.
Munawar told the police that he had seen Hajera’s younger brother Salim Bin Bazahar and his wife leave the place in a hurry minutes before the murder coming to light. “We have registered a murder case against the corporator’s first wife, her brother Salim Bin Bazahar and his wife. Further investigations are on,” said Kanchanbagh Inspec-tor S. Janakiram Reddy. Police said that Fatima might have died instantly as the wound on the throat was 1.5 to 2 cm deep. She had married Mr Mumtaz Ali about four years ago after obtaining divorce from her first husband. Hajera Begum’s brother and his wife are absconding.
