Hyderabad, November 13: The Hindu Vahini on Saturday strongly condemned harassment and arrests of its members and their kin on the pretext of interrogation in connection with attacks on three persons belonging to Muslim community.
Hindu Vahini State president B Rajavardhan Reddy, speaking to mediapersons here has alleged that the police have been harassing the Hindu Vahini workers at the behest of MIM chief, who was acting as de facto ruler of Hyderabad city. The MIM leaders were also coercing officials of the Labour department and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation not to take up drive against child labour and illegal constructions respectively in the old city.
Rajavardhan Reddy said that on November 10, Muslim miscreants attacked the “Karthika Pournami” function held by the RSS at Rajiv Nagar, Erragadda. But, the police have failed to take action against the attackers and remained silent spectators.
He said that they have also submitted a memorandum to the City Police Commissioner A K Khan on November 8 opposing the visit and participation of “Franklyn Graham” in the City Children festival, which began on November 9. On the same afternoon, the police arrested Hindu Vahini workers. He said that they thought that the police made preventive arrests in connection with the Franklyn Graham Children festival, but later came to know that they were taken into custody in connection with sporadic incidents took place at Kachiguda, Baghlingampally and Bowenpally. He said that the Hindu Vahini State vice-president Mallesh Yadav and treasurer Ch Srinivas were among those arrested. The city police had been resorting to such illegal arrests to please the MIM leaders, he alleged. He also suspected that the mischievous plan hatched by hidden forces was the reason behind sporadic incidents in the city.
Rajavardhan Reddy appealed to the police to be impartial and conduct a thorough investigation into the incidents to find the real culprits.
