Milk Vendors Plea for Hike in Commission

Twin Cities Milk Vendors Welfare Association has requested the milk producing companies to increase the commission to 15 per cent on the MRP (Maximum Retail Price) to the vendors, keeping in view the ever increasing cost of living.
Association President V Hanumanth Reddy, speaking to the media here Sunday, regretted that their repeated plea for hike in commission remained unattended for the past three years, despite the hunger strike organized by them last year. At present, the Vijaya Dairy was giving 3.5 per cent commission on MRP while the private managements were offering 10 per cent. There are 10,000 milk vendors in the twin cities and they were facing many problems in running their shops roadsides.
Apart from hike in commission, their demands include health insurance facility of Rs. five lakhs for each agent, PF and ESI facilities, creation of shelters on the roadsides for their business and supply of milk to Hotels, Malls and Hostels only through the agents (vendors). (NSS)
