‘Military officers should adopt new technologies’

Hyderabad, June 25: Military officers should be familiar with technological advancements to tackle threats from terrorists and to develop organisational effectiveness, V K Saraswat, Scientific Adviser to the Defence Minister, said here today.

Saraswat was in the city to participate in the convocation ceremony of the 87th Degree Engineering Course and the 13th Technical Entry Scheme Course at the Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering (MCEME), Trimulgherry which was held today.

Saraswat, who is also the Director General R D, suggested an active participation of EME engineers in design and development projects of new technologies and equipment and felt the need to review and revise operational practices on maintenance of machinery and equipment of the Armed Forces. “I appreciate the academic excellence of MCEME as a high reputation premier technical institution of the Indian Army. I hope that the army engineers will gear up with the technology advancement in long range precision strike, cruise missiles, laser systems and fighter aircrafts in addition to multi technology operations and professional expertise. he said.

Saraswat conferred the degrees and presented awards to the engineering graduates of the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers and other officers.

A total of 26 officers graduated with the 87th Degree Engineering Course and 19 officers graduated with the 13th Technical Entry Scheme Course.
