Militants kill six in Pakistan

Islamabad, June 27: At least six people have been killed and seven others injured, in various violent attacks in Pakistan as militancy gains momentum in the volatile state.

Separate gun attacks in different parts of Karachi claimed the lives of three people and injured five others on Sunday, police sources told Press TV.

At least one person was killed and two more wounded in armed clashes between two groups in Bilal Colony area in Karachi’s Korangi town.

Elsewhere, an unidentified man was gunned down near Passport Office in Saddar area of Karachi.

In another incident, unknown gunmen shot to death a 28-year-old man, in Gulbahar Firdous Colony area of Karachi.

Meanwhile, a bomb blast near a police checkpoint in eastern Multan city of Punjab province hurt six people, including four policemen in Kadafi Chowk area.

Militant attacks in Pakistan are on the rise as pro-Taliban elements in the country have vowed to avenge the death of al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, who the US claims to have killed in an unauthorized military operation in Pakistan on May 1.

Former officials with Pakistan’s military and intelligence service say that the US has falsely claimed it has killed bin Laden in Pakistan as part of a scheme to invade the South Asian country under the pretext of harboring the terrorist leader.
