A militant was killed Saturday by the security forces in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.
A senior police officer told IANS that militants opened fire at a patrol party of the counter-insurgency Rashtriya Rifles at Zainpora village in Shopian district, 65 kms from here, Saturday afternoon.
The area was cordoned off when the militants fired again leading to a shootout in which one of the guerrillas was killed.
A search is going on in the area and the operation against the militants is continuing.
