Hyderabad: Mild tension prevailed at Tolichowki after cops arrested 20-30 persons protesting against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) 2019 and National Register of Citizens (NRC).
Women participate in protest
In the protest which was held last night at Tolichowki crossroad, burqa-clad girls also participated. It continued till 4 a.m.
In Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh too, women are protesting against the controversial law for the past 28 days.
Protest intensified
Protests in Hyderabad started after Union Cabinet gave its nod to update National Population Register (NPR). It got intensified after Central Government issued gazette notification over CAA.
It may be mentioned that ever since the President gave assent to the bill, protests are taking place across the country.
In Hyderabad, thousands of people participated in Million March and Tiranga Rally against the controversial laws.
Despite massive protests in the city, Chief Minister of Telangana State, KCR is reluctant to clear his stand on NPR.
