Visakhapatnam, November 01: Handlooms and Textiles Minister P Shankar Rao on Monday stated that the State Government would implement mid-day meals scheme for weavers in the state.
Talking to media persons after participating in a programme in the district, the Minister stated that the government took a decision to implement mid-day meals programme for all weavers in the State considering their plight. He said the scheme would be implemented from November with the cooperation of weavers’ cooperative societies and labour unions.
Admitting that the weavers in the state are in pathetic situation, Shankar Rao said that the government was making sincere and concrete efforts to uplift their financial position.
Responding to joining of three MLAs from the Congress party into Telangana Rashtra Samithi, he said that though they joined physically into TRS their soul would be with the Congress only. He said that the high command would take a decision on Telangana state by November putting an end to uncertainty in the state.
“The uncertainty over the Telangana state will not continue for long time and the high command will take a decision on statehood issue by November,” he stated. He expressed confidence that the Centre will make an announcement over Telangana state by November.
