MHADA flats for allottees as HC lifts stay

Mumbai, October 15: The Bombay High Court today vacated its stay and allowed Maharashtra Housing And Development Authority (MHADA) to hand over possession of flats to allottees of May 2009 lottery.

However, the division bench of justices J N Patel and Rekha Baldote made it clear that this was subject to further orders of the court in the case.

A PIL has challenged allotment of over 3,853 flats by government-owned MHADA, which had given these flats through a lottery this May. Under the system, houses were allotted to eligible applicants on the basis of draw of lots.

Last week, the court had given an interim stay to the handing over of possession of flats.
