In a significant move, Minority Welfare Department has announced to conduct survey of 23696 sqyd land of Makkah Masjid. Secretary Minority Welfare Department Mr. Omer Jaleel IAS and Mr. Shaikh Muhammad Iqbal IPS on Thursday visited Makkah Masjid where the two top officials carried out detailed inspection of Makkah Masjid. They assured enhancement of salaries of workers at the earliest. Mr. Omer Jaleel and Mr. Shaikh Muhammad Iqbal also announced that the Makkah Masjid land and the properties endowed under the historical Masjid will be surveyed soon. They were astonished to know that the rent of houses of the Muhajireen camp was just Rs. 50, nevertheless some tenants have not paid the rent since long.
It must not be out of place to mention that MFD has announced to put up Urdu board mentioning the details of Makkah Masjid at the entrance. The two officers also proposed to keep chadars for non-Muslim women tourists who visit the Masjid; as it will help maintaining the sanctity of the Masjid. They also assured to reconstruct the toilets of the Masjid.
The best part of the two and a half hour long visit is that M. Omer Jaleel sanctioned Rs 20 lakh for repair and renovation of the Masjid.
